To enjoy a perfect surfing vacation in Fiji there are two small resorts on tiny coral islands just off Namotu Reef. Namotu is in fact a very small island where accommodation is available only in a few beach bungalows. Tavarua island is also a great destination for this sport, being a little bit larger than Namotu. Vacationers looking for budget holidays are advised to remain on Viti Levu because there are more affordable accommodation rates, particularly in a secluded area, south of Nadi. From there are organized daily trips to Namotu reef.
Around Beqa and Kadavu, settled in the southern part of the archipelago, surfers find also some excellent breaks. The Frigate Passage, a left-hand break located in the middle of the ocean, is more and more visited due to the reliable big barrels and long rides. Serua Rights is also a thrilling passage for this activity. Close to this spots the accommodation can be booked on islands of Yanuca, Beqa or Kadavu. Alternatively, can be taken boat trips to the Frigates Passage from Viti Levu.
Even if there are numerous great spots, the best surfing vacations in Fiji can be enjoyed on the southern coast of Viti Levu, the main island. Sigatoka Beach has the largest and most reliable breaks, although the marine currents can be dangerous. Natadola Beach is also a good place where can be enjoyed some great action.
Spending holidays in this terrestrial paradise is excellent year-round, but the best surfing conditions are between April and December.
